Southern Evangelical Seminary President Slams Gavin Newsom’s Abortion-fueled Walgreens Ban

by Judge Phil Ginn

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After Walgreens decided to forego selling abortion pills in states with strict pro-life laws, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California will stop all business with the pharmacy giant in protest. A spokesperson for the governor said “all relationships” between California and Walgreens are currently under review. This bold declaration from Newsom solidifies California as an abortion oasis in America, with millions of pregnant women who live in areas of abortion restriction traveling to California to tragically end the lives of their unborn children.

Judge Phil Ginn, president of Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES, www.staging.ses.edu), joined millions of pro-life advocates in lamenting Newsom’s bold pro-abortion stance, adding that if California (and the rest of the country) continues down this evil path, there will be everlasting consequences.

Ginn commented, “There is an old proverb that poignantly states, ‘Some folks grow with added power and responsibility and others just swell. But swelling if left untreated will often lead to an untimely demise.’ No better example of this swelling syndrome can be found than Governor Gavin Newsom of the late great state of California. By his own edict, Governor Newsom has decided to terminate the contract between the state of California and Walgreens Pharmacy because, according to him, ‘they have caved to right-wing bullies who are pushing their extremist agendas by putting politics above the health of women and girls.’ You might ask what action on the part of Walgreens would bring about such a harsh reaction from Governor Newsom? Well, it’s quite simple. Walgreens has, at least to this point, opted not to sell abortion pills in states where their sale is illegal. Go figure!

“The problem for mad hatters like Governor Newsom is framed from the findings of the Guttmacher Institute, which is decidedly pro-abortion. Their analysis released just this past year has shown that medication-induced abortions accounted for more than half of all facility-based abortions. If their findings are to be taken at face value, Walgreens’ decision may certainly impact abortion access.

“So, the argument goes something like this. If Walgreens opts not to violate the validly ordained laws of the states that prohibit the dissemination of these abortion medications, then they are somehow guilty of violating some standard born out of the likes of the state of California. Apparently, the Governor is of the mindset that there is a court of higher jurisdiction than the U. S. Supreme Court as well as that of the twenty so-called ‘red’ states who have strengthened their anti-abortion laws in light of the Dobbs decision.”

Ginn continued, “Finally there is something on which the good governor and I can agree. Yes, Governor Newsom, there is a court of higher jurisdiction, but it does not emanate from California. In fact, sir, it is not of this world, and you would do well to consider your position before that tribunal prior to continuing down the path of destruction that is being blazed by the culture that you seem to represent.

Judge Phil Ginn urges Newsom to ‘consider the path of destruction that is being blazed by the culture you seem to represent’

“At Southern Evangelical Seminary, we believe in the sanctity of every life, including that of the unborn, and we will continue to stand steadfast in our defense of the totality of the historic Christian faith and its principles. My prayer is that Governor Newsom — and all of America — will come to find the pathway set forth by that great lawgiver Moses when he says in Deuteronomy 30:19, ‘This day I call the heavens and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings, and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.’ God have mercy on us all if it has come to this.”
