Job Opportunities

This section of the job board is for job openings at Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES).

The Christian faith is in crisis.

Thousands of churches are closing every year, well over 1/3 of pastors have considered quitting the ministry, and the decline of Christianity among the general population, particularly youth, continues at a rapid pace.

And because the church is in crisis, so is our world.

Removal of the Judeo-Christian foundations of Western society has provoked a rise in suicide rates among teenagers and young adults, an increase in violent crime, and widespread and unhinged disintegration and despair within society.

To cultivate the level of discipleship needed to strengthen the church in our modern world and address the problems in contemporary culture Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES – established in 1992) presents the outreach initiative, Truth That Matters.

Truth That Matters (TTM) serves the mission of SES to train men and women, based on the inerrant and infallible written Word of God, for the evangelization of the world and defense of the historic Christian Faith through systematic efforts to remedy gaps between the current needs of individual Christian believers, churches, and organizations and the very best in apologetic, evangelistic, and discipleship resources.

Truth That Matters carries forward SES’s unique program in classical apologetics, love of Christ, high view of Scripture, and defense of biblical inerrancy as described in the Chicago Statements while seeking to:

  • Engage with and equip individual believers, churches, and organizations “on the ground,”
  • Build trust and credibility through doctrinally-sound, innovative, and effective resources and
  • Create positive, biblical impact that empowers the church and stabilizes our culture.

Through Truth That Matters, Southern Evangelical Seminary is working toward a vision of every believer standing Steadfast in the Truth. To advance this initiative, SES is hiring a Truth That Matters Senior Director to lead this effort forward.  The qualifications for this role are noted below.

Exciting opportunity to pastor a small church in a beautiful quaint little Maine village. We can provide a lovely spacious Parsonage and help with some utilities expense, but are otherwise unable to offer a salary or other compensation until the church grows. Therefore the most likely candidate would be either financially independent or bi-vocational, with a heart to make a difference for Jesus Christ in the northwoods of Maine.

This part-time (20 hours per week) position would entail the typical responsibilities of a small-church pastor, e.g. preaching, teaching, visiting, outreach, administration, officiating at funerals, baptisms, weddings — encouraging believers and reaching out to those in the community who do not currently profess Christ as Lord and Savior.

The candidate should be a male committed to Christ, well-grounded in historic Christian faith and doctrine, and preferably (but not necessarily) have some previous record of service as a successful pastor. The church has  a strong commitment to sound doctrine and an appreciation for the role of evangelism and apologetics.

The church is affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America.

Monson is located near the Appalachian Trail and hosts hundreds of AT hikers every year. Mt. Katahdin lies 100 miles to the north. An arts center is also based in town.

Monson is situated near Lake Hebron, with lots of outdoor options, summer (fishing, hiking) and winter (skiing, snowmobiling).

This position will most likely open up in January 2024, but perhaps earlier.
