Judge Phil Ginn Joins Celebration of Kansas ‘Women’s Bill of Rights’ to Protect Biological Women

by Judge Phil Ginn

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As the rest of the country debates what exactly a “woman” is, Kansas lawmakers took matters into their own hands and created the “Women’s Bill of Rights,” a much-needed measure that prevents courts and government officials from redefining the term to include biological men who identify as women. The measure, which now becomes law, defines a person’s sex as their “biological sex, either male or female, at birth,” based on their reproductive systems rather than personal decision. The bill has been met with thunderous applause from conservatives across the country, even as Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly attempted to veto the bill.

Judge Phil Ginn, president of Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES, www.staging.ses.edu), joined the celebration of the bill, noting that this victory for common sense could have been achieved much quicker if the nation looked to the unerring truth of the Bible.

“While much of hard-working mainstream America wakes up every morning and wonders ‘where am I and how did I get in this handbasket?’ there are a lot of politicians in state capitals and in Washington, D.C., that have a difficult time even figuring out how to define a woman,” said Ginn. “Thankfully, the Kansas legislature has finally solved this great cultural enigma and defined a person’s sex as their ‘biological sex, either male or female,’ based solely on the parts of their reproductive systems, or lack thereof, that they happened to have at the time they were born. However, in order to reach this momentous conclusion, they had to override the veto of their would-be governor, who apparently has yet to put the pieces of this puzzle together in her head. Of course, her logic in determining that she could not decide what a woman is stems from her overriding concern that the bill would make the state less attractive to businesses and vulnerable to ‘expensive and unnecessary lawsuits.’ For the uniformed let me translate the good governor’s thoughts. In essence, what she is saying is this: ‘We don’t need to be doing what’s right because our values should be for sale to the highest bidder, and we certainly don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.’ By the way, how did that mentality work out for the folks over at Bud Light?

“You might wonder why it is so important to know the difference between a man and a woman. Well, in this case as it applies to the state of Kansas, the legislation grants the authority to preserve single-sex spaces such as public restrooms, locker rooms, athletic teams, domestic violence shelters, and dormitories. You would think that these concepts would make perfect common sense, but apparently, they don’t today in many areas of our nation. But for now, at least in the state of Kansas, the legislature bravely chose to do what is right not only in the face of the governor’s misguided veto, but the vitriolic diatribes of those whose imaginations have outpaced reality.”

Ginn concluded, “Those of us who care about this nation should be proud of these folks in Kansas who have stood for the truth of natural law. Along with an exceedingly high view of Scripture, Southern Evangelical Seminary has looked to natural law for over three decades in training men and women to defend the Christian faith. We certainly are thankful that the Kansas legislature had the courage to go through all these gyrations to come to this conclusion. Ironically though, would it not have just been easier to go back to the beginning in Genesis 1:27 where the Bible says, ‘So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.’ Just maybe if we paid more attention to God and His Word, our culture would not be in this perpetual state of self-imposed confusion in which it is now trying to exist. Our prayer is that our nation will turn its heart toward the Savior before the pendulum swings too far.”
