Dr. Wayne A. Detzler

Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Cross–cultural Apologetics and Missions

Bio

Dr. Wayne Detzler is modern-day pioneer. After earning a Ph.D. from the University of Manchester in England, Detzler and his family served as missionaries/church planters in Europe and China. Detzler served as press agent for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Germany.  Dr. Detzler represents a rare blend of missional experience and apologetics knowledge, and has taught at schools such as Yale, Sacred Heart University, and has served SES in the past as the Academic Dean of Southern Evangelical Seminary, Charlotte, NC. His biography, “Diary of An Unworthy Servant” is filled with stories of God’s provision and guidance, yet gives only a small glimpse into this man’s amazingly fruitful life of Christian service.

Publications

As an author, Detzler contributed to “Christianity Through the Centuries,” by Earle Cairns, and “Church History in Plain Language,” by Bruce Shelley- both recognized by many as “contemporary classics.” Zondervan published Detzler’s work, “The Changing Face of the Church in Europe,” a landmark (and in many ways, prophetic) analysis of the religious landscape of Europe. His biography, “Diary of An Unworthy Servant” is filled with stories of God’s provision and guidance, yet gives only a small glimpse into this man’s amazingly fruitful life of Christian service.
