Dr. Bob Mayer

Director of Library Services

Bio

Dr. Robert Mayer brings extensive experience in writing, publishing and research to his role as director of library services for Southern Evangelical Seminary.
He comes to SES after 24 years as Senior Librarian for Gordon-Conwell Seminary, Director of the Harold Lindsell Library at the GCTS-Charlotte campus, and associate professor of theological bibliography.
From 1982-1997, he served as the editor of the *Advent Christian Witness*
magazine and as the director of publications for the Advent Christian General Conference in Charlotte. He also chaired the 1992 Evangelical Press Association convention and the 2013 American Theological Library Association convention, both of which were held in Charlotte. His scholarly interests include Church history and American Christian history, and he is the author of *Adventism Confronts Modernity: An Account of the Advent Christian Controversy Over the Bible’s Inspiration* (Pickwick, 2007).
He enjoys visiting historical sites, which he does often with his wife, Renee, and has been an avid supporter of the San Francisco 49ers football team since he was nine years old.
