International Students

SES desires students who are committed to Jesus Christ. Students are required to read, understand, and respect our statements of purpose and faith. Enrollment is open to all qualified students, without distinction of gender, race, disability, or ethnic derivation, who desire to engage in serious theological study in preparation for Christian service. If your previous degree granting institution(s) is not an accredited US based school, you must have your transcript evaluated by a qualified company such as AACRAO’s International Education Services, World Education Services, or Educational Credential Evaluators.

SES is approved to admit qualified international students under an F–1 Visa. International students interested in studying in the United States on the campus of Southern Evangelical Seminary, must complete the following steps:

  1. Apply to a degree program
  2. After you are accepted to a degree program, complete and submit (with all the necessary papers) the International Student Information Application
  3. An I-20 will be mailed for you to use in order to obtain an F-1 Visa. After you have received your I-20, you must pay any applicable fees to SEVIS. See U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement Office for more information
  4. Approved students should not arrive in the U.S. more than 30 days prior to the start of their first semester.  When you arrive at SES, you must attend Orientation (Fall or Spring) and turn into the Registrar a signed copy of your I-20

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regulations, students are not permitted to work their first year and must be enrolled as full time. International students must be in compliance with all federal immigration regulations relevant to them.
