Military Financial Assistance for External Studies

Southern Evangelical Seminary is extremely excited that the military is now providing financial assistance to those enlisted in the armed forces, and we are honored to serve those who have served their country. It has taken some time for us to work out the necessary details with the various branches due to the fact that each has adopted a different method of reimbursement. The following is offered to clarify our policies in order to better serve you.

Enrollment

Your branch policy for reimbursement may include the requirement that you enroll in several classes at one time. While you may request as many courses as are necessary to qualify, no external studies student may be actually enrolled in more than one course at a time (this does not apply to courses taken in residence). Therefore we will accept multiple course orders but can only send one at a time.

Tuition

We have found that some branches will pay tuition expenses up front while others require that the student finish his course with an acceptable grade before releasing funds. Southern Evangelical Seminary’s policy for all students is that tuition is due at the time of a course request. A student’s registration is not complete, and he or she may not receive a course, until all financial obligations are met. Therefore, each external studies student is required to provide full tuition payment, or their part of the payment with the proper forms, prior to taking a course. Subsequent refunds of a student’s payment upon the seminary’s receipt of military funds may be arranged with the Business Office. Should your branch require that you pay for multiple courses all at once we can credit these payments to your account for future orders. Once again we are very glad to be able to serve you and look forward to our future work together.
