Southern Evangelical Seminary is Proud to Announce
The Opening of an SES Teaching Site in Miami Florida!
We are pleased to announce that Florida Christian School (a large Miami Christian school) and Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES) have partnered to bring the great Christian education of SES to the Miami, Florida area. SES has accredited Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees, and some classes will now be offered on the campus of Florida Christian School starting for the fall 2010 semester in August.
Besides having a highly populated metro area without an accredited Christian college Miami is considered the gateway to the Caribbean and is an ideal location to influence missions and evangelism work in the Caribbean and Central and South America. We also trust that God will allow us to reach the Spanish speaking community with apologetics and the message of the reliability of the Christian worldview. Thanks to SES D.Min. student, Juan Valdes, and the great staff at Florida Christian School (FCS), we will be able to start equipping Miami residence through live streaming of evening classes to this teaching site in south Florida. Students will be able to interact live with professors and students in Charlotte, NC. Classes will also be scheduled to be taught in person in Miami.
SES is Bible based, relevant, and mission oriented. As a Worldview School, SES focuses on teaching students to understand the intersection of Christianity with all of life. And, SES is one of the most affordable seminary and Bible college programs available. Come for a degree or simply to enrich your knowledge and walk with the Lord.

FAQs
Q: How will classes be offered in Miami?
A: Most classes will be streamed live from classes being taught at SES's main campus in Charlotte, NC. There will be live two way audio and video communication between the classrooms in Charlotte and the classrooms in Miami. Students in Miami will see the classroom and be able to ask questions to the professor and participate in discussions. We are trying to make this as much like "being there" as possible.
Q: Will classes be taught in person in Miami?
A: Yes, in the beginning periodic classes will be taught directly at the Miami campus by Southern Evangelical Seminary professors and scholars. As more students become active in Miami additional in person classes can be scheduled. Please see the detailed schedule.
Q: Will this be considered Distance Education at the Miami teaching site?
A: Sort of. Students will need to apply as distance students, but any courses taken at the Miami teaching site or via live-stream will be considered resident classes. You will be classified as an "In Residence" student for any class being taken live with student and professor interaction. Because this is a teaching site, many aspects of the experience will be similar to distance education students. For instance, for research and writing, you will need to use local libraries for books. However, as an SES student, you have access to our library resources, but you will need to wait for the books to arrive in the mail. Also, due to accrediting reasons, only one half of a degree may be available at a teaching site. Given that there will be students pursuing various degrees, we will only be able to have at most ten undergrad courses taught in-class at the Miami site and only six graduate level courses taught in-class at the Miami site. We are currently researching what steps need to be taken to have Miami considered a branch campus. Should this be approved, the restriction for only having one-half of a degree taught on the Miami campus would disappate.
