Student Status

Whether for degree, non-degree credit, or audit, classes can be taken only by those who have completed the application process and have been admitted into the seminary.

Degree / Certificate / Diploma Programs

Southern Evangelical Seminary & Bible College desires students who are committed to Jesus Christ. Students are required to read, understand, and respect our statements of purpose and faith. Enrollment is open to all qualified students, without distinction of gender, race, disability, or ethnic derivation, who desire to engage in serious theological study in preparation for Christian service. See Admission Requirements for degree program details.

Audit

Auditors may attend class lectures, but are not permitted to participate in class discussions, ask questions, or submit assignments for grading, unless the professor stipulates that audit participation is allowed. Audit status may be granted to students who do not meet the academic requirements for regular admission into a degree program or students who are qualified for a degree program, but do not desire to enter a degree program or attend courses for credit. A resident audit student may attend any course for which he is registered as an auditor upon the payment of the audit fee for each course.

Non-Degree Credit

Non-Degree Credit status may be granted to students who do not meet the academic requirements for regular admission into a degree program but who desire full academic credit, students who are qualified for a degree program but do not desire to enter a degree program at this time, or in order to begin classes prior to full acceptance. Such a student can take no more than three (3) courses for credit, at which time enrollment in a specific degree program must be completed including submission of a complete admission application in order to continue to take courses for credit. Credits earned under Non-Degree status are valid for six years before entering a degree program. Admission as a Non-Degree Credit student does not guarantee future admission into a degree program.

Visiting Students

Visiting Student status may be granted to anyone who is currently a student enrolled at another accredited seminary and who wishes to take courses for credit in residency at SES.

Application Forms Minimize

Specific instructions and submission procedures are included in the application packet. Download the proper application packet and follow the instructions within:

Prospective resident students are strongly encouraged to apply 6 to 12 months before their expected enrollment date, or before the following deadlines - but we can accept students provisionally up until courses begin. Non-degree credit status may also be requested in order to begin classes prior to full acceptance. Because Distance Education Studies is not on a semester schedule there is no deadline for application to the program.

Suggested Application Completion Dates

  • Fall: August 5
  • Winter: December 15
  • Spring: January 15
  • Summer: May 1

When the student's application file is complete, the admissions committee will take official action on the application. The applicant will then be notified by letter of acceptance into a specific degree program or special student status. Questions regarding application process should be addressed to the Registrar.
